About
Animals are our companions in this life and they have a special place in our hearts. This stimulates a sense of duty and care in us. I followed this from a young age. My first pets were 2 beautiful guinea pigs named "Buck" and "Nosey." I feel privileged to be an advocate for your pets and advise about their well-being.
Experience
I started my career as a veterinary surgeon in mixed-practice, providing 24hr care to horses, cattle and sheep, as well as beloved pets, in a rural part of Ireland. After 5 years, I moved to Australia to focus solely on small animals. I enjoyed treating birds, reptiles and small furries, as well as dogs and cats. Later, I spent time in vet emergency clinics and then lived in the Middle East/West Asia for 6 years. Here, I was exposed to a huge variety of clinical cases. General veterinary practice is my field. My interests are dermatology, dentistry, medicine, surgery, ophthalmology and exotics.
Interests
I enjoy spending time with animals and being in nature. My love for animals began in childhood with my first pets, two guinea pigs named Buck and Nosey, and it continued.
Dr Stephen Healey is an exceptional vet. I brought my 5 (4 mine and 1 tumpang) poodles to visit him for vaccine. He checked their teeth by smelling their mouths, and their ears too the same way. I have never met a vet that does that. Only I as doggie mom do that - smell their ears and their mouths to determine any bacteria. Dr Stephen did that! He took such good care of my 5 poodles and explained specific poodle facts to me. I am a dog lover and owner since I was 8, and I am now in my 60s. I have met many vets, but not one who cared for my babies as I care for them. Top Marks Dr Stephen!
Dr Stephen Healy is an EXCELLENT doctor. He takes EXCEPTIONAL care with my 14 - year old dog Bobo, even to the extent of remembering her name. As Bobo requires repeat treatments, Dr Stephen tries his best to ally my financial costs by NOT charging consultation fees on several occasions. What a FINE and CARING doctor he is. I wish more vets were like him.
Personally in Singapore, not many vets care about the wellbeing of guinea pigs as they classify as exotic. They often give medication of wrong dosages with the wrong diagnosis. Hence, we have been very apprehensive and skeptical of many vets because of the bad experiences. However, Dr Stephen is a vet who genuinely cares about our piggie, Asher. This is our second visit with Asher and Dr Stephen has gone through such lengths to ensure that Asher gets better. He has done adequate research and proper follow ups to make us feel comfortable with the diagnosis and the medication given to Asher. Not many vets have done that and will do that in Singapore. Thank you for your hardwork. We felt helpless but bringing Asher to the vet puts us at ease as we feel that he is in the right hands. Thank you for caring for the little ones as well, Dr Stephen.
