About

Veterinary Medicine is my passion; I believe in ‘living and breathing’ vet medicine - even after 37 years as a vet, it continues to consume me. It meets my yearning for variety by opening so many opportunities to learn about nature, animals and medicine My hobbies revolve around seeking out and being with nature like forest trekking and diving. Plus music and movies! I am genuinely predisposed to improving lives of those who cross my path, so I relish the ability this profession gives me topositively impact lives of people through animals.

Experience

Experience starting 1988 across UK, Singapore and Australia. General Practice with areas of expertise and interest in Endoscopy, Aquaculture Fish and Aquatic Medicine, Pathology Water Quality Management, Medical Management of Military Working Dogs, Marine Mammal Medicine, Dugong Rehabilitation, Laboratory Animal Medicine, Public Health and Zoonoses. One of the rare few veterinarians in Singapore that has experience and expertise in treating aquatic fishes and animals, stemming from his days of working for the now defunct Underwater World and now SEA Aquarium in Sentosa.

Interests

I enjoy listening to music and watching movies. My hobbies revolve around seeking out and being with nature, like forest trekking and diving.

My doggies have been extremely well looked after by Dr Frederic Chua. And I am thankful for the support he gave to my late golden retriever Million, who passed away at 16 years of age, a week ago. Without his support and love for those pets he treats, it would have been a miserable year for my old faithful pet. Thank you to the team and Dr Frederic. You are possibly the best team in Singapore. My 2 remaining old girls are well, and that’s because of the great care you provide.

En

Brought my old pet terrapin (red eared slider) to see Dr Frederic Chua, a reputed specialist when it comes to aquatic animals. Very few vets have the training or experience when it comes to dealing with pet terrapins so it was a great relief to find someone so knowledgeable and caring. The doctor and staff were also kind enough to squeeze my appointment in even though Dr Chua was fully booked for his next available day as my terrapin had suffered internal bleeding and I was very worried it was a serious illness. Even though he was very busy, I was relieved and glad that Dr Chua took the time to examine my pet and explain how to administer the medication. The service overall was excellent and it didn’t feel rushed.

I am so thankful to Dr Chua who reassured me and advised me to be patient for my turtle to lay her eggs out. I would definitely look for Dr Chua on my next vet visit. Very knowledgeable doctor who gives detailed explanation.

Hear Stories Of Our Vets From The Heart

A Team With Experience Across Different Species

Veterinary care is not one-size-fits-all. Different species have different anatomical, behavioural and medical needs.

For animals with more specialised needs, we recommend contacting the clinic before your visit so that we can confirm the availability of a suitable veterinarian.

How Our Veterinarians Work With You

Our veterinarians aim to make each consultation clear, practical and focused on the needs of the patient.

Some conditions can be diagnosed during the initial consultation. Others may require testing, observation or further review. Where there is uncertainty, our veterinarians will explain what is known, what still needs to be investigated and what the next steps may involve.

Continuity Of Care From Our Veterinarians

Where possible, pet owners may request to see the same veterinarian for follow-up appointments. This can be especially helpful for patients with:

• Long-term medical conditions
• Ongoing medication
• Behavioural or handling sensitivities
• Complex treatment plans
• Repeat diagnostic monitoring
• Senior-pet care needs

Choosing The Right Veterinarian

When booking, let our team know:

• Your pet’s species
• The reason for the visit
• Any known medical condition
• Whether you prefer a specific doctor
• Whether your pet is fearful, reactive or difficult to handle

This information helps us schedule your appointment with the most appropriate available veterinarian.
